CD
KEY CHANGE
If you for some reason you need to
change your Half-Life CD key then just download this,
its a text file that explains it in detail.
CD KEY IN
USE
If you find that
someone else has been using your CD key and you cant play
half-life because of it then you should do the following, go to
your half-life/valve directory and open up the file called
"woncomm.lst" with notepad, then simply swap all
east's with west's and vice versa. You could also do this if you
wanted to share your CD key with a mate but make sure only one
of you does it. Incase you cant understand how it works, it just
changes the CD Key checking server to the backup one.
FASTER
MAP CHANGES
Don't
you HATE it how you never quite seem to get into the pistol
round (first round of a map) well the chances are that this is
caused by a full custom.hpk, to speed map changes up a hell of a lot
go to half-life\cstrike and delete the file called custom.hpk
then try it out IT REALLY WORKS. Make sure you do this every few
days to keep it that way.
FPS
Need to find your fps?
type cl_showfps 1.
Have you got a good computer but find your fps wont go over 30,
well that's because of some stupid commands which limit your
fps, to enable higher fps type this in the console, fps_max 99
and fps_modem 99.
HOSTAGE
JUMPING
Have you ever seen a
guy floating on a hostages head way up on the roof, well that's
what Hostage jumping is. To hostage jump you simply get on a
hostages head, 'use' him then repeatedly tap the jump key and u
will start to fly up. People will get pissed off at you for
using this so do it on your own server.
LOGOS
Go to your menu, then
multiplayer, then customize and you will see a logo selection
box, change this to a logo you fancy and the colour you desire
then go back and go to controls and assign the logo command to a
key, then go join a multiplayer game and press the button while
facing a wall and you will spray a small logo.
To make your own logo just use
a program such as Paint shop Pro or Photoshop and open one of
the logos from halflife\logos\ and edit it to be how u like it
then simply save it as a new file and go play counter-strike,
the players will automatically download it and you can spray it.
When making the logo keep in mind that the whites are changed to
the colour you choose and black is transparent.
To get some pre-made logos you
could try fileplanet or logos
'r' us, there you can download some hilarious logos, such as
the famous 'Not Milk' Logo as shown below along with some other
fancy logos
 
 
 
COLOUR LOGOS
To make your logo any
colour ( colours that aren't available in the customize menu )
download logoEd, this is a
program which is extremely easy to understand and it lets you
change your logo colour from the spectrum. To make fully
coloured logos and different sized logos download this, It lets
you make your own logo how ever you like and then the program
does its magic and makes it your logo.
PINGS
Firstly make notes of your current settings and com port
settings. Download PPP_boost
and install it. Run PPP_boost and change the RWIN setting to
about 3000, only change this one though. Open dial up
networking, and right click on your net connection, and go
properties, then configure, then set the the baud rate to
15200bps(115KPS) for a 56K modem, or 57600(56KPS) for a 33.6K or
28.8K then restart your computer. Now go to Dial up networking
which can be found in My computer and right click on your
Internet connection, then go properties, then configure, then
hit the connection tab, then port settings and make sure
both Buffers are set to full. Hit OK, and then go to advanced.
Turn off error control (change it back later if connections
disconnect allot), set flow control to hardware (RTS/CTS)
if you use a ISA modem or software if you use a PCI modem. In
the Extra settings box type x3 or AT&F and go OK Then go to
the general tab and make sure that only connect at this
speed box is *UNCHECKED*, then go to the server type tab
and *UNCHECK* all the boxes except enable software
compression and TCP/IC and ipx/spx compatible, Hit OK
Now that that's done, load counterstrike and then in the console
type either rate 3500 for fast connections or rate 2500 for
slower connections.
FASTER
RUNNING
If you are carrying a
heavy gun and you want to run somewhere quickly just switch over
to the knife, it makes you run much faster for some stupid (non
realistic) reason.
COMMANDS
Commands are the key to halflife. They
make the game go. And knowing the commands can help you to
adjust how you play and overall your skill. To use commands you
simply type a word in the halflife console. Download a full list
of commands for client and servers here.
